SHOCKWAVE THERAPY

Focused Shockwave Therapy is an advanced, evidence-based treatment used to stimulate healing in chronic, stubborn, or load-sensitive tissues. At MVMT MTHD, we use focused shockwave as a targeted tool within a comprehensive movement and performance plan, not a standalone fix.

By delivering high-energy acoustic waves directly into injured tissue, shockwave helps increase blood flow, stimulate cellular activity, improve tendon and connective tissue quality, and reduce pain by supporting the body’s natural healing response.

What Can Focused Shockwave Therapy Help With?

  • Chronic tendinopathies (Achilles, patellar, rotator cuff, gluteal)

  • Plantar fasciitis and heel pain

  • Persistent muscle or soft tissue pain

  • Calcific tendinitis

  • Overuse injuries in active individuals and athletes

It’s especially useful when pain has lingered, keeps recurring, or hasn’t responded well to rest or traditional rehab alone.

Shockwave & Regenerative Medicine

Focused shockwave can also play a supportive role in regenerative medicine strategies such as PRP and peptide-based therapies. By improving local circulation, tissue signaling, and cellular activity, shockwave may help create a more favorable environment for healing and tissue adaptation.

At MVMT MTHD, this allows us to strategically layer treatments using movement, loading, shockwave, and regenerative tools when appropriate in order to support recovery, durability, and long-term performance.

Our Approach

Shockwave at MVMT MTHD is always paired with:

  • Movement and biomechanical assessment

  • Progressive loading and strength-based rehab

  • Mobility and stability work specific to your goals

Our focus isn’t just reducing pain. It’s helping you move better, train stronger, and stay resilient.

FAQs

  • Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses high-energy acoustic sound waves to stimulate healing in injured or painful tissue. These sound waves increase local blood flow, activate your body’s natural repair processes, and help break up chronic scar tissue and calcifications that can limit movement and cause ongoing pain.

  • Most people describe shockwave as feeling like rapid tapping or deep vibration in the injured area. It can be mildly uncomfortable at times, especially over sensitive tissue, but treatments are very quick—usually only a few minutes per area—and well tolerated. Intensity is always adjusted based on your comfort and the tissue we’re treating.

  • The number of sessions varies depending on the condition, how long it’s been present, and your overall training and recovery history. Most patients benefit from a short series of treatments, often around three to six sessions spaced over several weeks.

My goal is always to use shockwave to jump-start healing, then build the tissue back stronger through guided rehab, progressive loading, and performance-based care so improvements last well beyond the treatment table.
